Built by God
No one would look at a house that has been framed up, roofed, supplied with plumbing and electricity, insulated, trimmed and finished, and say, "That house came about on its own, by chance."
And yet, some people look at planet earth, hung in space, revolving around the perfect source of light and heat, supplied with water and air, filled with complex plants and animals, all combined in a miraculous ecosystem, and they say, "It just happened on its own, by chance."
The Bible says, "Every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything." (Hebrews 3:4) As a house needs a builder, so does the existence of the universe need a Creator. Abraham Lincoln once said, "I cannot conceive how a man could look up into the heavens and say there is no God."
Eddie Rickenbacker was the leading American combat pilot in the first World War. Years later, at the outbreak of World War II, he was assigned to the inspection of Air Force bases in the Pacific Ocean. Flying on this mission, Rickenbacker's plane was shot down. He and his crew were lost at sea for 21 days. The survivors spent those 3 weeks on life boats before finally being found and rescued. Rickenbacker later said: "In the beginning, many of the men were atheists or agnostics. But by the end of the terrible ordeal, each man had discovered God. Beyond the vast, empty loneliness of the ocean, each man found the Lord - and salvation - and strength in prayer."
An old mountain man once said, "That man who doesn't believe in praying to God is a man who's never had to stare down a bear."
What about you? Are you taking that old road traveled by so many people? Are you ignoring God or denying that He exists? Will you be honest enough to ask yourself, am I denying the existence of God because I am hurting inside and I am angry at Him? If you have feelings of hostility toward the idea of God, then you are not really an unbeliever. There is a reason why you feel anger and bitterness and resentment. You vent your anger toward Christians because of your feelings toward God. Ask yourself honestly, do I feel the same anger toward Krishna or any other god? In your heart you are waging war against the true God.

There was a time in my life when I was lost to God - and I was angry at God. I felt like He had not been kind to me because of many bad things that had happened in my life. So I embraced the so-called scientific theories that ignore God. But in time the Lord broke through my hard heart. He brought to my attention that over the years God had shown me love and mercy and kindness in so many ways, through it all.
When I finally was honest enough to look at the facts of history and science, I realized I had been viewing everything from an anti-theistic bias, just as evolutionary theory does. My anger toward God had kept me from being an objective, honest investigator. I pray you will put aside arrogant, self-righteous blather and take a hard look at your honest feelings toward God and Christians. Stop making excuses for your anger. It is not "history" or "the sins of Christians" or "the crusades", those are excuses. Your anger is personal.
Jesus told a story of two houses, one built on sand and another built on rock. He said the "wise man built his house on the rock." If our life is resting on the shifting sands of this world, it is only a matter of time until we sink. But if our life is resting on Jesus Christ, we will never fall, because we will have our foundation on the Solid Rock.
