Out From Darkness The story is told that years ago there was a lonely footpath that went winding through the woods, and then ran alongside a graveyard. One day, the gravedigger had just finished shoveling out a new grave when a hard rain began to pour. The workman hurriedly left his project uncovered - and made all haste to get home. That evening, the storm subsided and a pitch black night fell across the cemetery. A man who was walking along the path in the darkness lost his way. He wandered off the trail into the graveyard - and tumbled into the fresh grave! The mud on the sides of that grave was slicker than a South Florida snowshoe salesman. He kept slipping back in as he tried to climb out. He yelled for a while but nobody heard him. So he just sat down in a corner, and went to sleep. Then another man came along during the black night and took the same wrong detour. He fell right in there with the first man! And he too started trying to climb out - without any success. In the darkness, he did not notice the first man sitting over there asleep in his dark corner. About that time, the first man woke up. He watched the guy jumping, clawing at the mud, trying to get out. Finally the guy got tired and just stood there in silence.
Then the first man spoke up from his dark comer. "You might as well relax. You'll never get out of this place." But he did! That man got motivated! My friend, there is a dark grave somewhere waiting for you. Will you trust in Jesus?
Will you escape from the grave and hell? Are you motivated to get out of that place?
The Power of God to
Change a Life The evangelist Luis Palau tells of a woman in Peru whose life was radically transformed by the power of Christ. Rosario was involved in atrocious terrorist activities which resulted in great harm to many innocent people. When Brother Palau conducted a crusade in Lima, she learned of it and, being incensed at the message of the gospel, made her way to the stadium to kill the evangelist.
Inside the stadium, as she contemplated how to get to him, she began to listen to the message he preached. She fell under conviction for her sins and embraced Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Ten years later, Brother Palau met this woman for the first time. She had by then assisted in the planting of five churches as a vibrant, active witness for the Lord Jesus Christ. Rosario had also founded an orphanage that is home to over one thousand children. She is a living testimony to the amazing grace and power of God. "By the power of God, He has saved us and called us to a holy life - not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace.” 1 Timothy 1:8-9
